SAMOS

Samos is a Greek island in the eastern Aegean around its middle and east of the Ikarian Sea, and belongs to the homonymous prefecture of Samos.

According to the 2011 census, it has 32,974 inhabitants.

The island is now known for the sweet muscat wine of "Nectar", its lush vegetation and tourist attractions, but also for the personalities it provided in Greek history, such as Pythagoras, the philosopher Epicurus, the astronomer Aristarchus who allegedly designed the first heliocentric map and others.

The first bronze statues were also produced there and the vessels of Samos were famous in 550 BC.
